Hotspots are areas with the richest and most threatened reservoirs of plant and animal life on earth. Decades of field research by scientists in hotspots throughout the world, and three years of filming from Easter Island, Madagascar, Brazil, Peru, New Zealand and the United States (coast of California).
Hotspots shows how conservation efforts are succeeding throughout the world and what is takes in the trenches to negotiate a sustainable future for life on earth. The film reveals numerous primates, avians, rodents, bats, insects, reptiles, amphibians, unique plants and human cultural artifacts, some never before film. Currently along our California Coast at Big Sur the fires are threatening - the Ventana Wildlife Society where the California Condor Reintroduction is located. The Ventana as well as the condors and their habitat are in jeopardy. The Condors have been air lifted by the Coast Guard to a safe location. The Condors number 315 and the Ventana along with the L/A and San Diego Zoo’s have been working to save these California icons from extinction.
